So Congress is busy at work again, doing REALLY important things. While people are suffering with the lack of employment they've spent time changing the English language. They have removed the word "retard" from a list of approved words apparently. Yes, seriously important business is being done in Congress. Honestly, when is the last time you called a handicapped person a retard? Oh..you haven't? Me either.
When will those who believe that removing a label removes the problem its use creates?
The tail is wagging the dog in this case. Please everyone, start repeating to your children what our parents said to us..."Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me." It is ALWAYS the intent of how a word is used and no matter how many times you remove a word or try to make it PC to never use it, people still use it.

On turning Facebook pink.....
So I'm not going to turn my Facebook pink or anything else pink until people start realizing that women can't be on high estrogen hormone drugs for better complexions and to control periods and not suffer horribly as a result. Wake up America...wake UP. Not trying to discount those who have suffered from this disease by any means; just tired of the rhetoric of it all. There are answers.

ANGER AND FEAR: MY FOLLOW-UP
I was recently told that my last entry sounded as if I were angry and fearful. I would like to address this comment with the following:
The point I was trying to make was I am amazed at the power of television and newspapers in this country. It has become the venue for people to share their opinions and switch around the facts to create a desired outcome. No longer do the masses think for themselves. I find this very frustrating: I admire those who share with me a differing opinion using substantial facts for lively and thought provoking conversation
I am sad that the past election was based for the majority of people purely on race and believe it did not bode well for those claiming we have reached a milestone in our countries history. It seems more a type of affirmative action and guilt cleansing. The secondary point I was trying to make was this: If I used the same titles for magazines, organizations and other forms of current media available today, substituting the word white for black, I would be censored and ridiculed; labeled a racist. Simply using the word “black” to describe another is construed as racial slurs. Where is the equality in this type of behavior? The equality is hidden from all who wish to expose it through the demands of political correctness.
I believe that this election was hijacked by a nation who has become dependent on television to instruct them on the ways of the world. This too, saddens me. Brainwashing should be done away with and not encouraged. However, advertising has shown us a new path to desensitization of the mind.
I am not fearful of the world and the changes that are taking place because there has always been evolution. Global warming does not concern me as much as the poisoning of both bodies and environment by doping up the world. It is the controlling of the masses through desensitization that causes me to pause in thoughtful wonderment of where we are heading.
I am definitely in favor of a smaller government and more personal responsibility. I am in favor of term limitations and smaller retirement settlements for those involved in both the senate and the house. I did not support the bailout. I believe in preventative health care first and foremost as the direction that health care should be taking. I believe that the pharmaceutical companies are doing a great job of covering up symptoms of real health care issues and medicine has become the number one business in this country making trustworty healthcare almost impossible. I believe that people have the right to speak their minds. I love that the United States was founded as an alternative to other forms of government and wonder at the logic of those who would turn us into a “World Order” and change us from our humble beginnings into the same format as those who cry out to us for help.
Spiritually I know there will never be world peace. Humans are social beings, therefore peace needs to flourish in our most sacred social settings; families. Yet think of the irony of promoting diversity within our families and then asking for cohesion. It is no different in the world. Diversity means to divide and that is what we are doing every day in this world: Creating diversity.
Thanks again for allowing me the opportunity to share my opinion.

2008 ELECTION
Well, here it is the day after this historic election and our future is being foretold, I believe, by the world's response to this victory. It seems there is rejoicing around the world for our 44th president elect. How can one man command such control before we've even discovered who he is?
Most people are elated with Obama being the first black man elected as president of the United States. It seems to be the sentiment of those he excites that we arrived at this opportunity via the civil rights movement and its afterglow. My nephew says that Obama is a simple black man with a vision. Many say he’s intelligent and trustworthy. Praises flow off the lips of Obama supporters; mesmerized by his obvious polish and charisma. He’s turned the heads of Hollywood and reeled in the newspapers and broadcast networks with unbelievable ease. He elicits chants of change.
I would like to ask a few questions. First, how far have we really gotten with equality? We have given blacks an abundance of political freedoms while sweeping white freedoms out the door. Whites may not say anything that can be construed as “racial” but blacks are forgiven because of their past history; a history that today’s whites had nothing to do with. We are not allowed to use the word “white” in advertising while blacks can use “black” in titles and descriptions. It is not politically correct to use any slang against blacks but it is alright for blacks to call whites names. Wake up people, this is not equality, it is pandering. How far have we really come? White pastors are not allowed to endorse candidates for fear of losing their non-profit status but Reverend Wright can yell from his pulpit slanderous innuendos against our government and preach to his congregation the advantages of electing Obama? The list could go on and on but I think you get the point.
Second, I would like to address “the simple black man with a vision”. I don’t know how simple he could be to have raised over 650 million dollars to buy this election! Where did this money come from and why is it that nobody cared to find out?
Third, the joys on the faces of Obamaites, (Definition: Those who produce no proof of anything this guy has ever done for anyone except himself and preach his readiness for the presidency) must be the result of some sort of hypnotic trance they have fallen under. Entertainers help Obama mold their minds. Many can not even choose a good book to read and instead rely on the words of Oprah to pick their literary therapy. They insist they are individuals but that word has been transformed over the past years to mean “those who do what the masses tell and expect them to do”.
Finally, a presidential elect who has most countries of the world doing a “happy dance” is, in my opinion, the most frightening part of all. The United States was born from the desire of her people to be different than the rest of the world. There is something that doesn’t smell right with this development.
Now, you may have a lot to say about my opinion and I am okay with that….it is the United States and we have the freedom to disagree on things. To this end, I want to ask some questions to ponder:
We have contributed to others with unabashed charity even in the midst of our own losses. To be told that those we supported in this race may be trying to make a virtue out of “selfishness” was an insult to us all.
Why should we be told where to put our charity?
Hugo Chavez is looking forward to meeting with Obama. What’s wrong or right with this?
Mandatory health care coverage for our citizens will force payments into a system that may or may not honor your healthcare beliefs. How is this good?
Why is it that the media keeps talking about how tough it is going to be for Obama? Is this really the worst economic crisis we’ve ever faced? Why?
Global warming, global cooling, global warming, global cooling…which will it be next year?
The media keeps saying we are in two wars. Last time I looked we were not at war with anyone. No declaration has been made or was I asleep when it happened?
Obama’s heritage is not just black but white as well. Did this help him get to where he is or didn’t it matter?
Last, the housing crisis. Who really is to blame?

Women who hate Sara Palin
I am absolutely astounded at the behavior of my gender and for that matter, the human race in general. Witnessing supposed intelligent individuals hissing hatred through their pinched and contorted lips would be almost funny if it were not so unfounded. The female media, female movie industry and female left leaning political pundits have gone too far. Their male counterparts are even more despicable. Where have the attempts to practice acceptance of differences and tolerance of others gone? Instead of an election we should be holding a funeral for the death of humanity.
Those who preach love for same sex, freedom of choice, rehabilitation for criminals and peace in Iraq should try switching it up a bit. Those who believe they cannot tolerate same sex involvement, want to end abortion, punish criminals and want to fight terrorist activities while liberating another country, should also try switching it up a bit. Everyone should go back to basic sandbox rules; share the toys and don't throw sand. Learning by example is still the best form of teaching.
Women are acting like renegade killer bees who sense a new bee ready to be queen and are agitated. This new breed of bee is out of control and they do not care that the survival of the hive depends on cooperation. They would rather attack the proposed leader and leave her for dead. If this is where the woman's movement has taken us, then we need to revolt against it. Where is the support we've all worked for gone? We don't need to agree with her politics but we should be rallying against the sexists pictures and statements being made about her.
Look, Sara Palin is no Hillary Clinton or Geraldine Ferraro and, for some folks from my point of view, that's the best thing about her. Though some nasty cartoons have been drawn of Hillary, none have made it into the Gary Trudeau cartoon strip like Sara has. Mocking Sara's family goes against the Clinton rules of "leaving Chelsea" out of political games. It seems to me what's good for the goose should be good for the gander. Too bad no one else feels this way.
Why is is that this intelligent, talented and aggressive woman is being judged on beauty alone? (I'm assuming this is true since when asked why she's awful no one has a logical answer but spew forth only emotional retorts!)
Women, wake up. You are no different than the male chauvinist pigs we've all fought against. I guess the "pig with lipstick" comment could apply.

Chiropractic under fire...again.
I wrote this letter in response to an organization that is trying, once again, to discourage our scope of practice in Michigan. Please let everyone know that we need help to "snuff out" this kind of garbage. The website I'm responding to in my letter is educatedontlegislate.org.
Mr. Ford,
I read with interest your perspective on chiropractic health care. It's unbelievable in this day and age, with the history of chiropractic and its benefits, that you still feel the way you do. Perhaps the anti-trust suit won against the AMA is no longer "fresh" in your mind? It is sad when fear of competition is the driving force in the caring of patients as it appears to be with the affiliated groups on your website. I feel for the poor souls that you claim you want to help.
Let me just remind you that, by their own admission the AMA members killed 250,000 people in one year by illicit medicine! How many people died from chiropractic...directly, not through hearsay? We are tired of hearing that "my aunt's second cousin removed and then re-married to a neighbor in Pookieville, New Hampshire died after an adjustment!" or yet, "had a chiropractor break their neck." This kind of telephone game rhetoric is just not acceptable anymore.
The profession of chiropractic is an honorable one and we try very hard not to tell the truth about medical as they continue to tell lies about chiropractic.
Last but not least, our profession was called out by a group, which claims it is helping to stamp out fraud, for a million dollar square off in the treatment of injuries and disease. It is run by one of your affiliates. We accepted and they never got back to us! Wow. Now there's some confidence.
Remember Mr. Ford, M.D. simply stands in my opinion for More Drugs, More Disease and More Death. Your organization has been in control for too many years; for we continue to see disease and death go up and quality of life go down. Perhaps education is the key. Education that puts Chiropractic in the forefront of health care. We can only do better, it would be impossible to do worse.
Yours in health,
Mary Jo Boven
